Closer than Breath

How a near-death experience reset rejection to limitless, unconditional love.

On the 24th of November 2017, Maria dies in a horrific accident while working with her husband on their farm. She instantly becomes aware of Jesus, but her near-death experience contradicts anything she has read, heard or known.

Instead of regaining consciousness and retelling what happened, Maria discovers something incredible that changes her life and those she shares her story with forever.

Maria’s true story of rejection to unconditional love, from struggling and striving to unprecedented joy and freedom, is for anyone interested in what happens when they meet Jesus and what they already have access to.

Meet Maria

Maria, or Moekie as I call her, is the incredible woman our Lord Jesus gifted to me as Mum. What inspires me most is the way she loves Jesus, her youthful heart, and her never-giving-up attitude in life.

Maria lives with my dad on their beautiful, waterfront campground at Woodgate, Queensland. She enjoys morning walks on the beach and more than anything loves to see the joy in others multiply as they discover more of Jesus.

The memoir is her story, my story, your story. Why yours? Although we follow events around Maria’s life, what she discovers and learns is true for me and you. As you read, we would like to invite you to discover alongside Maria, in a new way, Jesus and all that God has for us.

Thank you

To everyone involved in the making of ‘Closer than Breath’ – our hearts are eternally grateful for the encouragement, proofreading, feedback, editing (thanks Nola!) and for the prayers and ever-present circle of friends and family without who we could not achieve any of this.

Most of all, to our Papa, thank you for granting us the privilege to tell a small part of your story through our lives.
